Spinal Cord Stimulation Trial

Used for patients who have spinal lesions that cannot be treated surgically. Treatment includes a short trial conducted with a temporary stimulator to see whether or not this is a good option for the patient.

During The Procedure

The patient’s skin is numbed and leads are placed under the skin, attached to a small generator that the patient will carry around, rather like a cell phone! Using pre-set programs, electrical currents will be emitted in a pattern designed to target the areas of pain.

Placement of the trial stimulator takes about 20 minutes. Discomfort should be minimal and there is no downtime.

Typical Outcomes

For patients who experience significant relief, a complete system with a generator can then be implanted.
